3D Printing Gallery Our 3D printer has been getting a lot of use lately! View the gallery to see what our 2D/3D Design elective students have been designing and printing in class. Students use the free SketchUp Make to design their objects, which are then printed on a Flashforge Dreamer that we received in a grant. Click […]
The eighth grade class has been learning about Civil Engineering in science and is testing their knowledge by building popsicle stick bridges. Recently we had the opportunity to hear from 2006 Holy Rosary alum Kyle Johnson who is working with Coffman Engineering as a structural engineer.
The 7th grade learned about aeronautical engineering as they designed two liter rockets, tested them and then improved their designs. They then had the opportunity to hear from Adam Rising, a 2008 graduate of Holy Rosary, who is currently working with NASA designing rockets of his own.

First Grade – We have been learning about materials engineers and the engineering process. We tied this into our study of the […]
Kindergarten students take on the challenge of designing and engineering a way to knock down dominoes without touching them with their hands. Two great examples pictured below – ball pushed down a ramp into the dominoes and a swing pushed into them. First graders have been learning all about the Arctic and focused on the different […]
Video below. Kindergarten students used what they have learned about force and motion to design and engineer a Mayflower ship that would sail from England to the New World (across the plastic pool) without sinking or capsizing. Super fun!

Stop by the Math lab hallway to see all the beautiful activities each class grade created for the special celebration in Mexico – “The Day of the Dead”. Thank you Señorita Brodahl!
October 26-30 Kindergarten S.T.E.M.! Kids explored pumpkins inside and out using all of their senses, then they engineered structures using toothpicks and pumpkin candy. As a final challenge they attempted to build jack-o-lanterns with Legos. Click on images for higher resolution. Fifth Graders worked in small groups to build and test parachutes based on different designs. They recorded […]

They also observed that plants have tubes which carry water and nutrients through the roots, stems, and leaves. In Ms. Semandiris’ 6th grade Social Studies class, students are currently studying Mesopotamia. They learned about […]
