Preschool Mission
The preschool at Holy Rosary strives, through Catholic principles, to create a loving, learning environment that will allow the students to grow and develop their faith, knowledge, sense of responsibility, respect for self and others, and ability to communicate thoughts and feelings.
Preschool Description
Preschool 2s – P2 meets Mondays and Fridays from 8:30-11:00 a.m. This class is designed for two-and-a-half-year old children. An emphasis is placed on developing social and emotional skills, independence and a love of learning. The daily schedule includes a balance of student choice activities and teacher-directed activities with both active and quiet times. Faith formation lessons are integrated into the week’s activities. All students should be two-and-a half-years old and toilet-trained by August 31. Instructional Staff to Student ratio is 1:5.
Preschool 3s – P3 meets Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 8:30-11:00 a.m. This class is designed for three and four-year-old children. An emphasis is placed on developing social and emotional skills, independence and a love of learning. The daily schedule includes a balance of student choice activities and teacher-directed activities with both active and quiet times. Faith formation lessons are integrated into the week’s activities. All students should be three years old and toilet-trained by August 31. Instructional Staff to Student ratio is 1:6.
Part-time Pre-Kindergarten – P-T Pre-K meets Monday through Friday from 12:05-3:05 p.m. This class is designed for four or five-year-old children who are getting ready for kindergarten the following year. Children expand their social and emotional skills and problem solving. Center and choice activities promote self-regulation, creativity, and fine and gross motor skill development. Faith formation lessons are integrated into the week’s activities as well as “ABC, Music & Me.” Students also visit our K-8 school library, music room, and computer lab once a week. All students should be four years old and toilet-trained by August 31. Instructional Staff to Student ratio is 1:8.
Full-time Pre-Kindergarten – F-T Pre-K meets Monday through Friday from 8:30-3:00 p.m. This class is designed for four or five-year-old children who are getting ready for kindergarten the following year. Similar to the Pre-K class described above, there will be expanded time spent on Kindergarten Readiness skills with activities that encourage self-regulation, creativity, and fine and gross motor skill development. Students bring lunch to school and snacks are provided. Faith formation lessons are integrated into the week’s activities as well as “ABC, Music & Me.” Students also visit our K-8 school library, music room, and computer lab once a week. All students should be four years old and toilet-trained by August 31. Instructional Staff to Student ratio is 1:8.
