Fifth Graders worked in small groups to build and test parachutes based on different designs. They recorded the results of their experiments, then analyzed their data on parachute drop speed to determine the characteristics of an effective parachute in a thin atmosphere such as Mars. They will discuss and share their testing results looking for ways to improve their designs.
