Moment Of The Week

The teachers and students put on a wonderful prayer assembly on Tuesday afternoon honoring Mr. Hofbauer. We celebrated all the great things he did for our school while he was the principal of Holy Rosary and all the things he has done for Catholic education throughout his career.

Scholastic Book Fair

The BOGO book fair opens Thursday and will run until June 3. Through the years the students have all experienced the joy of buying one item and getting another for free! We hold this book fair to support reading by making this an easy one stop shopping opportunity for families. Also, anyone who reads at least 15 minutes each day of summer vacation will receive an invitation to the special Pancake Breakfast in September. It is time to BOGO.

8th Grade CYO Track Championship

BIG CONGRATULATIONS to the Holy Rosary 8th grade girls and the 8th grade boys for winning their respective team championship at the 2016 CYO Team Championship. They competed against 15 other Catholic schools and it’s the first 8th-grade championships for Coach Shelley Neal! Click here to read the story on the West Seattle Blog.

The 2015-2016 yearbooks have arrived and they are OUT OF THIS WORLD! Look for them to come home next week if you ordered one in November. If you weren’t able to order one, there may be some overruns available for sale. Stay tuned!

Update Family Contact Information

Please be sure to let the main office know if you have had a change of address, updated your email address or added any new phone numbers for your family. It is very important that we always have the most up-to-date information for our students and families! Also, be sure to check your family’s entry in the current School Directory. If you have any updates or changes, please contact Jennifer Hazzard in the main office: jhazzard@holyrosaryws.org

Room Parent Opportunity

Be a room parent for the 2016-2017 school year! If you enjoy planning and attending classroom parties and parent’s nights out, and spoiling the teachers with birthday gifts, then this job is for you!  Room parents fill such an important role in each class and help take a little weight off of our teacher’s shoulders.  This time spent also goes toward your family commitment hours. If you are interested in being a room parent during the 2016-2017 school year, please email me at emilypaulson@gmail.com. Thank you!

ANNOUNCING MINISTRY SCHEDULER PRO – We are pleased to announce that Holy Rosary Church is putting into place a new system that will make liturgical minister scheduling much easier for everyone! It’s called Ministry Scheduler Pro! Using this online system you’ll be able to specify exactly what times do and do not work well for you to serve. You’ll also be able to check your schedule from anywhere and easily find a substitute when you can’t make one of your scheduled dates. We’ll be sending you more information about how to use this new system in the near future. For now, we’d like you to please ensure that the information we have on file for you is accurate. MSP also integrates your whole family’s serving schedule!

Current volunteers have already been sent their email invitation – including altar servers, Eucharistic ministers, lectors and sacristans.

New volunteers are welcome! Contact Paul Dolejsi for information on various church ministries.

Current volunteers are asked to please login to the “Web Terminal” using the link in the email and update their general information, service preferences and unavailable times. Volunteers should make sure that they enter all the dates they are not available between June 1 and August 31. The email provides a link to the online MSP web terminal, and provides a username and password for access. Once logged in, you can click on the “Help” tab at the top of the screen to see a short video and printable guide that will explain step by step how to update your information.

If you have an iOS or Android device, you can download a free app that will make it easier to view your scheduled dates, request and accept subs, and update your profile from your mobile device!

NOTE:  You must submit your updated preferences and availability for the next schedule (June 1-August 31) by Monday, May 23 in order for them to be considered.

If you have any questions, you may contact me. We look forward to sharing more information about the benefits of this new system with you in the coming weeks.
Thank you so much for your service! ~ Paul Dolejsi

SUMMER CAMPS are listed on this page. New camps are added weekly at the top.

COMPUTER TROUBLE-SHOOTING – Hi, my name is Cade Harris. I am offering computer trouble-shooting solutions. I CAN help you fix numerous problems with your computer: printer not working with your device, your laptop runs slowly because of viruses not caught by software, your WiFi doesn’t connect with your device, and many other challenges.

I hear all the time about family friends who have computer challenges and cannot figure them out. I have helped many of them and can provide references as needed. I am well versed in MS office products, Apple and PC hardware.

About Me:  I am a 2014 Centennial Holy Rosary graduate, and currently a Sophomore (soon to be a Junior!) at Kennedy Catholic High School. My brother, Blake is currently a 4th grader at HRS.   I have built my gaming computer from scratch and have assisted others in building theirs. I recently finished building a Media Server for my family which allows any device (laptop, desktop, tablet, phone, etc.) within our home to access hundreds of DVDs (downloaded from our library), CDs, on-line music, Family Videos, and Photos. I am responsible for administering my family’s network.

Contact Info:  I am available to help you with your challenges for $20/hour or project based, depending upon the scope of work. You may reach me at cadesharris@gmail.com or 206.938.2009. I look forward to helping you!

MUSIC LESSONS – My name is Corey Zarkowski and I am offering beginning trombone, piano, and general music tutoring this summer. Most music programs take a break over the summer, and as a result you start the school year playing catch-up with your skills. I can help your child keep their music skills fresh over the summer. We can work out of your existing music books, or I have several books of my own. We can work on classical, jazz, or pop music. I have experience playing both solo and ensemble arrangements. It will be fun! I charge $15 for a 30-minute session.

About myself – I am a Holy Rosary graduate, and will be a Junior at Kennedy Catholic High School next year. I play trombone in the Symphonic and Jazz Bands at Kennedy, and have been in private lessons since 7th grade. In 2014 I was awarded the Cambronero Music Scholarship at Kennedy Catholic, and in 2016 I was an alternate to state in the Washington State Solo and Ensemble Competition.

I have also studied classical piano since 1st grade. Every summer I play ensemble music with Music Northwest’s Chamber Music Camp, and last year I also performed several solo pieces at the Seattle Young Artists Music Festival.

You can contact me at 206-719-4525 (call or text) or at coreyz206@gmail.com to talk about how your child and I can make music fun this summer!

CAMP GALLAGHER, located on Case Inlet in the southern Puget Sound, is opening this summer with overnight camp sessions for middle schoolers and high schoolers. This beautiful camp was formerly a CYO camp for teens and will now re-open as a non-affiliated camp. Programs will maintain many of the special traditions that make Camp Gallagher an amazing experience centered on friendship and being outdoors. With a focus on waterfront activities, Gallagher will feature kayaks, canoes, sailboats of every size, and a big water trampoline. There are hiking trails, an extensive stock of craft supplies, and a brand new ropes course. The website, www.campgallagher.org, has helpful information. Marypat Smucker, a Holy Rosary parent, is on the board of Camp Gallagher. With a friendly competition between board members underway, if Marypat wins the most camper referrals (put Marypat’s name on registration site), she will choose a name from those referrals for the prize: your choice of a week at Suncadia or a week at Seabrook!

NANNY SHARE – I am looking for a nanny share during the summer for two toddlers. We ideally need someone Monday through Friday, but at the minimum Wednesday-Fridays from 11:30-3:30 p.m. The kids will need to be picked up from school at least three days a week. Transportation will be needed. Please contact Zoe Meagher at 206-265-9112.
