As we embark on our celebration of Catholic Schools Week, I would like to thank you for your continued support of Holy Rosary School and Catholic education. The success of our school is a community effort; it takes a lot of hard work on the part of everyone- staff, students, parents, the Parish, and the larger community to make things work! You are integral in our work and our mission- thank you for all you do each and every day.
I hope to see you at Mass this weekend and at our large Open House after the 10:30 Mass on Sunday. This is a chance for us to honor and celebrate all that is happening at our school. And if you have any friends or family who might be interested in our school, please bring them on Sunday! It will be a wonderful day to showcase Holy Rosary School.

Tonight at 7 p.m. in the Parish Center I will be hosting an adult faith formation class for adults. Our topic for tonight is Private Revelation. God revealed Himself to the world in the person of Jesus Christ, not only offering His life for our salvation but also teaching us everything necessary to get to Heaven – His public revelation. But over the last 2,000 years, Jesus Himself, Mary and even some of the saints have appeared to various individuals. Some of these we are more familiar with – Lourdes and Fatima and Guadalupe. Others, less so. Tonight we will dive into those appearances, the miracles that often surrounded them, and the messages from Heaven. Of special note will be the messages at Fatima 100 years ago this year. Come, and delve into this gift of faith that we have received as we journey together toward our Heavenly home.
“That took two minutes!” “Something that was simple and easy to do!” These are phrases that have been used to describe the re-enrollment process! Please complete your re-enrollment for the 2017/18 school year at this link.
A morning doughnut party will be awarded to the class who has re-enrolled 99% of their students first. Currently, these classes are the closest: 1A, 2B, 3B, 4A, 6A, and 7A.
The school will charge the registration fee of $300 per student to your FACTS account on February 15th. For preschool students, the registration fee is $200 per student.
FACTS charges an annual fee based on your selected payment plan. Families who choose to pay monthly will pay an annual FACTS fee of $46. The Pay-in-Full option has an annual FACTS fee of $20; families can opt to pay one payment for the year or two semi-annual payments. FACTS has increased its credit card fee to 2.85% from 2.75%, for the 2017/18 tuition payment plan year. This will apply to all amounts charged to a credit card.
For those families who have submitted Kindergarten applications, we have begun scheduling Kindergarten classroom assessments, which will be held on February 10th. Please contact email@example.com if you have not received a sign-up notification for your incoming Kindergartener. Financial Aid Application Deadline Is January 31
To be considered for financial aid for the 2017/18 school year, current school families should complete their financial aid application online by January 31st. This includes all supporting documents. Families who have applied for financial aid will be scheduled individually for meeting with Principal Anna Horton in mid-February. The financial aid application can be found here.

The GRANDPARENTS’ AND SPECIAL FRIENDS’ LUNCH starts at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 1st. The Book Fair will be open at 10:30 a.m. that day for Grandparents & Special Friends to shop early. Fifteen percent (15%) of all sales come back to Holy Rosary, as well as bonus books. Reminder that students WILL NOT be eating with guests. All students will eat in their classroom and then proceed down to see their guests. Hot lunch WILL NOT be available this day, so please pack a lunch for your child/ren.

AUCTION VOLUNTEERS will be needed to make our largest fundraiser a success! We have immediate needs for volunteers. See the list below and contact Beth Martin at email@example.com if interested.
- Are you organized and LOVE inputting data? The cash out leader will be stepping down after this year and would like to train someone to step into her shoes. This position will fulfill all your fundraising hours in one weekend.
- Are you musically talented? The auction venue, Rainier Golf & Country Club, has a baby grand piano. Would you consider sharing your talents during the silent auction and play background music? You would still be able to sit and enjoy the live auction.
- Do you love to perform? The auction is looking for a reader/emcee during the live auction. Duties would include welcoming the guests and reading the live catalog descriptions, then turning it over to the professional auctioneer to start the bidding.

Save the date for everyone’s favorite STUDENT/TEACHER event, the BINGO BASH, on Friday, February 24th from 6-8 p.m. Information and sign up flyers will go home on Monday, January 30th. Go out for a date night and send your kids to school for a few hours!
One On One Support For Our Ugandan Students
Seventh graders led last Friday’s prayer service, which focused on the five Ugandan students to whom we provide support through our One On One program. Two sisters – Sister Maria and Sister Paskazia from the Sisters of the Daughters of Mary in Masaka, Uganda – led the school in song and drum playing! Tim Law, our Parish International Missions Board member, showed video from his most recent trip to Uganda in October. See this page for more information and to view his video.
We have collected an average of about $240 a month since September. With over 400 students in our school, we are hoping that every student can bring in $1 for each collection so we can raise closer to the $400 a month needed. We hope you can think of creative ways to donate $1 — a bill, or four quarters, or even ten dimes — each month for the rest of the year. Thank you!

Coding With Kids Class
Coding With Kids classes are back and start the week of February 6th. Registration will be done through Holy Rosary and billed through FACTS. Follow this link to our Coding With Kids page for information and to register.
During Catholic Schools Week, the seventh and eighth grades will be collecting used coats in good condition. The coats can be for adults or children and will be distributed through St. James Cathedral outreach. There is a collection box in the main hallway just past the front office. Thank you!

REGISTER NOW FOR BASEBALL – It’s time to sign up for baseball! Students in grades 5-8 are eligible to play baseball; we are hoping for two teams: grade 7/8 combo and a grade 5/6 combo. Register online here. Registration closes on February 17th. Any registrations after February 17th will be accepted on a space availability basis. Registration fees are $115 per player.
Baseball season starts March 19th and consists of eight games on Sundays, which fits in well with league teams. End-of-the-year tournaments for each grade level are May 17th – June 4th. YOUTH GROUP FUNDRAISER – SUPER BOWL SUB SANDWICHES – Support Holy Rosary’s Youth Group and order sub sandwiches and/or drink and chips for Super Bowl Sunday. FREE THROW COMPETITION – Show off your basketball skills. Our Lady of Guadalupe Council Knights of Columbus are sponsoring a Free Throw Competition for all boys and girls ages 9 to 14. It will be held Saturday, February 4th at 9:00 AM. The competition will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Gym, 3410 SW Myrtle St., Seattle. Each boy & girl age group champion will be eligible to advance to the District Competition to be held in February. You must provide proof of age (birth certificate, etc.).
