Family Communication 5/25/23

The mission of Holy Rosary School is to help each child discover and fully develop their God-given talents. As a Catholic School community, we strive for excellence in our students’ spiritual, academic, physical, mental, aesthetic, and social-emotional growth. It is our intention that those who attend this institution mature into active citizens leading a committed faith life and reaching out to help others locally, nationally, and internationally with their wisdom, time, talent, and financial resources.

PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Dear Holy Rosary Families,
Happy end of May!  It is hard to believe June is upon us.  Fun and exciting things continue to happen these final weeks of school.  Our sixth graders went to camp this week, our second graders went to Pioneer Farms, and our eighth graders went on retreat to reflect on their upcoming graduation and their time at Holy Rosary.  Today is our sixth grade Wax Museum, a culmination of the study of ancient civilizations in the sixth grade.  Last Friday we had an epic, all day talent show, topped off with a very fun Endowment Bowling Event.  We have much to be thankful for in our school community!
I want to loop you in on a few changes to our COVID protocols based on updates from the Department of Health.  First, with the state of emergency ending, and because we do not have a registered nurse working on our campus, we are no longer authorized to administer COVID tests.  For the time being, we still have tests on campus we can share with families, but we can no longer do any testing ourselves.   This means that we will no longer engage in a testing protocol when a family member tests positive.   Rather will encourage families to follow the public health guidance and monitor their own families.  The guidance still recommends people with repeated exposures (such as in a household) continue to monitor and test until beyond the contagious period of the infected person.  We are also no longer recommended to notify families regarding single cases in classrooms or groups, but rather only when there is an outbreak (>20% or more than 5 cases in one group).  As of now, nothing has changed regarding quarantine and masking days from public health when someone does test positive, but we will continue to monitor that as we approach next year.
This weekend we celebrate the Feast of Pentecost and draw a close to the Easter season.   Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful, and kindle them the fire of your love!
In Christ,
Anna

PASTOR’S MESSAGE

This past Friday was a night in which we focused on the past, the present and the future.  The 90’s theme of Gator Bowl made for a trip down memory lane as the soundtrack for the night played, and some of the clothes made me think back to my own closet.  It was a joy to gather with so many parents and community members as we left the kids at home and had a great time.  The purpose, of course, was to support the Endowment.  Since its inception in the 1980s, over $1 million has been contributed to the school from the Endowment.  Donations are permanently restricted and invested, and it is the market growth from which we make annual distributions.  There is currently just over $1 million in the corpus, and over $500,000 in current market earnings today.  Thank you to all who have invested in Holy Rosary students for generations to come.

If you didn’t get a chance to join us, but still want to support the mission, contributions can always be made online.
