Family Communication 5/19/22

Dear Holy Rosary Families,
After a 9+ year journey for many of our 8th graders, it’s sadly nearing the time that we send them off on their next steps, confident in their readiness to accomplish amazing things.  This Sunday we will celebrate the Baccalaureate Mass with our graduating 8th graders and on June 2nd they will officially graduate.  Please join me in praying for them these coming weeks as they are celebrated!  We not only celebrate the young adults they have grown into but we also pray they will continue to follow Christ as they journey beyond Holy Rosary.  I also want to congratulate the parents and families of our graduating 8th graders.  Their success is truly a testament of your hard work, dedication, and support.  We celebrate and honor you these coming weeks as well!
Things are busy these final few weeks of school.  Summer projects are already underway and we’re receiving supplies and books for next year.  We look forward to the talent show tomorrow and field day on the 27th. Both have been missed these past few years!
As we continue during this May time period, let us continue to honor our Blessed Mother.  Mary, mother of God, pray for us!
In Christ,

Anxiety is a subjective sense of worry, apprehension, and or fear. Although everyone feels anxious from time to time, approximately 10 percent of children have excessive fears and worries that can keep them from enjoying life (Helping Anxious Child 2nd Edition). It is normal for everyone to feel fear, worry and apprehension from time to time, but when these feelings prevent a person from doing what he/she wants and/or needs to do, anxiety becomes a disability.  Keep reading…

Talent Show Streaming

We are excited to have our school’s talent show this Friday, May 20th. K-2 performances will start at 9:00 with our school band.  Grades 3-4 starting about 10:15 and 5-8 performances starting at 2. Unfortunately, we will not be able to have parents attend the talent show this year because we are making space for students to watch their grade level groupings performances.  Mr. Barker will stream it live on Holy Rosary’s Vimeo account. Check your email for the streaming links that were sent out Thursday evening from Mrs. Bentler.

Summer Math Challenge

It’s almost summer, which means time for fun and relaxation!  Students also have the opportunity to keep their math skills sharp by participating in the summer math challenge.  Students should fill out and record their time as the summer progresses and be ready to turn it in during the first week back at school.  It will be due on Sept. 9th!  Both the summer math and reading challenges are optional.

Immunization Requirements for 2022/23

Per the State Department of Health, all required vaccinations must be up-to-date by the first day of school. If a student is missing any of the required vaccinations, they will not be able to start school until those doses have been administered. There is no longer a thirty day grace period. The only accepted exemption is medical. You can access your child’s state immunization records at My IR Mobile. If you have any questions, please contact Kristin Bentler in the school office.

Masking Update/Changes in Mass

We continue to ask our students to have a mask available, in case they find themselves in a situation where distancing is challenging or if they need to work closely with someone.  Thank you for making sure your child has a mask in their backpack.  Number of new COVID cases in the school this week (as of Thursday am) = 18

If you are interested in being a room parent during the 2022-2023 school year or would like more information on room parent responsibilities, please contact Joellyn DeRonghe at Thank you!

Talent Show Spirit Day

Every year, the leadership elective chooses a free dress theme day for the talent show.  This year our theme is “Welcome to the Jungle!”  Students will be able to come to school on Friday, May 20th, decked out in any jungle gear.  This could include animal prints, safari type outfit (khaki clothes, hat, boots, and binoculars), tropical shirts, jungle animal ears, etc.). Get creative or keep it simple!  We just want to see your spirit!

Girls Rock Math

Girls Rock Math (GRM) is a non-profit offering STEAM summer camps. Our mission is to provide thought-provoking, creative experiences in math, empowering girls to develop confidence in their skills, and a life-long interest in mathematics.
Intern-Counselors are a very important part of our GRM program – they wear a staff shirt and name badge. They attend Staff Meetings with our Counselors-in-Training (CITs), teachers, and Site Director. Intern-Counselors work with teachers to ensure campers are having an enriching summer experience. Throughout the week, they work with mentors to guide them in leading, collaborating, and planning activities for campers. They reflect on their experience with other Intern-Counselors as well as their college-aged mentors. Reflection coupled with hands-on experience builds great leadership skills all while having fun and earning service hours. (One week of camp plus training is approximately 40 hours of community service.)
Here are some other things Intern-Counselors do at camp:

  • Sing, play games and do outdoor activities with campers
  • Assist the teacher as needed
  • Ensure campers are safe
  • Work with younger campers on games, projects and problems
  • Be responsible, reliable, and punctual
  • Have fun during recess and lunch
  • Follow camp rules

If you know of female-identifying students who would be interested in being a part of this summer’s Intern-Counselor program, please pass along our website:
