PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
Dear Holy Rosary Families,
Thank you for an incredible auction! We’re still tallying the final numbers with the class auction projects closing last night, but we can confidently say this is the most successful auction we’ve had during my time here. It was truly a momentous evening to be together and I know an incredible amount of volunteer work happened behind the scenes to make the event happen. Thank you so much for the time, talent, and treasures you contributed to the auction! Thank you for your generous support of our Fund-an-Item. With over $75,000 pledged at the auction, we were able to secure a generous matching donation, and now have over $150,000 towards updating our little toy area and asphalt playing surface. We are excited to do this work this summer!
In campus happenings:
Yesterday we gathered in prayer as a school community to honor our Blessed Mother Mary, praying a decade of the Rosary together as a whole school. We were then able to return to one of the many special traditions that happens each May, as our 8th graders performed their Liturgical Dance to honor Mary. This special tradition is certainly something to look forward to when your child reaches 8th grade! We will celebrate our soon-to-be graduates with a Baccalaureate Mass and awards dinner on May 22nd and then we roll into the graduation festivities! Please join me in continuing to pray for our 8th graders who are on the cusp of embarking on the next steps in their educational journey.
With us into mid-May, we’re into fun spring activities. The Talent Show returns on May 20th and we’re planning for a return of our school wide field day on May 27th! Many of our students have not experienced a field day with us, so it is sure to be an exciting day filled with fun activities. Many thanks to Mrs. Southerland who spearheads this event. She is looking for volunteers to assist! If you are interested in volunteering to support this fun day, please email her at ssoutherland@holyrosaryws.org. This is a great way to get some volunteer hours if you are still in need of hours!
Finally, we continue to see increased COVID cases in our school community, which is not surprising given the increase in cases in the greater school community. On the recommendation of public health, we have returned to required mask wearing in a couple of grade levels short term, to assist in preventing additional spread at school. We continue to monitor the situation closely and do encourage mask wearing indoors, especially if your child is in a class where multiple cases have popped up. Our goal is to finish the year strong and for all of our students to be able to participate in the many, fun, year end activities!
In Christ,
Anna
COUNSELOR’S CORNER
A lack of impulse control is at the root of many behavior problems. The more impulse control your child gains, the less likely he’ll be to grab things out of your hand, and he’ll be more likely to think twice about accepting that dare from a friend. Keep reading…

School Calendar For 2022/23
The calendar for next year is on the school website. Over the summer there will be a few updates so check back before the start of the school year. You can also look at the Google calendar, which is updated regularly.
Immunization Requirements for 2022/23
Per the State Department of Health, all required vaccinations must be up-to-date by the first day of school. If a student is missing any of the required vaccinations, they will not be able to start school until those doses have been administered. There is no longer a thirty day grace period. The only accepted exemption is medical. You can access your child’s state immunization records at My IR Mobile. If you have any questions, please contact Kristin Bentler in the school office.
Masking Update/Changes in Mass
We continue to ask our students to have a mask available, in case they find themselves in a situation where distancing is challenging or if they need to work closely with someone. Thank you for making sure your child has a mask in their backpack. Number of new COVID cases in the school this week (as of Thursday am) = 23

West Seattle Grand Parade- Volunteers Needed!
We are looking for a family or group of families willing to organize and design the Holy Rosary Float for the Grand Parade on July 23rd. The school will cover the costs of this event. This is a wonderful way to support your school and fulfill most, if not all, of your volunteer hours before school even starts next year! If you are interested in helping with this, please email Anna Horton (ahorton@holyrosaryws.org). Every year we have a number of families who walk alongside the float in the parade, so it is a very fun project and event!

Are you short volunteer hours? The uniform closet is getting full and we need your help getting items into the homes of returning students. We would like to put the uniforms out several afternoons at dismissal for students and parents to shop. Time slots are for a half an hour but feel free to make it longer if you’d like. It does take about 10 minutes to get everything outside. Sign Up Here Thanks for your help!

Girls Rock Math
Girls Rock Math (GRM) is a non-profit offering STEAM summer camps. Our mission is to provide thought-provoking, creative experiences in math, empowering girls to develop confidence in their skills, and a life-long interest in mathematics.
Intern-Counselors are a very important part of our GRM program – they wear a staff shirt and name badge. They attend Staff Meetings with our Counselors-in-Training (CITs), teachers, and Site Director. Intern-Counselors work with teachers to ensure campers are having an enriching summer experience. Throughout the week, they work with mentors to guide them in leading, collaborating, and planning activities for campers. They reflect on their experience with other Intern-Counselors as well as their college-aged mentors. Reflection coupled with hands-on experience builds great leadership skills all while having fun and earning service hours. (One week of camp plus training is approximately 40 hours of community service.)
Here are some other things Intern-Counselors do at camp:
- Sing, play games and do outdoor activities with campers
- Assist the teacher as needed
- Ensure campers are safe
- Work with younger campers on games, projects and problems
- Be responsible, reliable, and punctual
- Have fun during recess and lunch
- Follow camp rules
If you know of female-identifying students who would be interested in being a part of this summer’s Intern-Counselor program, please pass along our website:
