Dear Holy Rosary Families,
The big event is nearly here! I’m looking forward to this weekend’s auction, which is sure to be a fun-filled, exciting evening. Our auction raises essential funds towards our operating budget so thank you for all of your support of this important event!
I’d also like to thank the Auction Chairs, who exceed their 50 volunteer hours, for planning a wonderful evening and to the 50+ volunteers who make the event happen. Our school is lucky to have volunteers who step into chair roles for a multi-year commitment and the following parents have my sincere gratitude: Kate McGovern, Marcia Metcalf, Wendy Mowat, and Molly Ward. I’d also like to thank our Development Director, Beth Martin, who oversees all of our fundraising, for all of the work she put into the event.
Have a wonderful rest of the week!
A MESSAGE FROM FR. OAKLAND
It will be the traditional feast of Corpus Christ, the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. Formerly instituted 700+ years ago, this feast celebrates the presence of God in our midst in the Most Holy Eucharist. Over the years, one of the traditions that emerged was annual processions. The priest would carry the Blessed Sacrament in a monstrance, and would process from the Church into the streets accompanied by the people. A baldachino – a veil – was carried over his head, a symbol of the presence of the Holy. It is a great act of witness to our faith to our neighbors. It is a celebration of God’s presence in our midst. It is an invocation of His blessings upon our lives and our community. It is a reminder that as we receive Jesus in the Holy Eucharist at Mass, we are called to carry Him with us as we go – and be Christ to others.
So after Mass on Thursday, May 31, the Altar Servers will lead us out the side door of the Church. I will follow, with a baldachino carried above. And then all the school children and all others present. As we go around the block, we will sing hymns of praise to God. We will return to the grassy beside the church where an altar will be set up, and will have Benediction, or the formal blessing. If you are interested in assisting with the procession, please contact Robert King at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Children’s Choir Welcomes All Second Graders to Sing on Mothers’ Day!
Every year, the Holy Rosary Youth Choir for students in grades 3-5, welcomes second graders into the choir to sing for Mothers’ Day! It is exciting and fun to see and hear all the new young singers learn about choir and the joy of singing together! And then even more fun to have them sing for their moms on Mothers’ Day!
The Choir will sing on Mothers’ Day, Sunday, May 14 at the 10:30 Mass. Rehearsals are after school in the chapel on Wednesdays: April 18, 25, May 2 and 9, from 2:30-3:15. Teachers will escort kids from classroom to chapel. Pick-up is from the chapel courtyard at 3:15. Students will be escorted back to BASE as needed. They will also rehearse before Mass Sunday morning (May 13) in the chapel at 9:45 a.m. No cost for second graders to participate. Donations always welcome.
To have your second grader sing on Mothers’ Day, please register online here on the Holy Rosary Parish website. Arrangements can also be made if there is a Wednesday rehearsal conflict. Our goal is to have as many second graders as possible join the choir and sing for their moms!
