PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
Dear Holy Rosary Families,
Fall is more in the air this week, with the cool mornings and shorter days upon us. We’re rolling into mid-October next week and I want to remind you that next Friday is a non-student day for staff training and retreat time. With these cooler and wetter days, please be sure to send students to school with a coat that has a hood. We are making every effort to get kids outside during the day, even when it’s wet, and sometimes students may want a coat in their classroom if it’s a bit chilly. We have the heat running, but continue to have all windows open to promote good ventilation in the classrooms.
Next week we also begin the long anticipated replacement of the Lanigan gym roof. You may not know, but the roof on the gym is original to the building, dating back to 1986! It is in dire need of replacement. Like many things due to COVID, this project was delayed because of materials availability. Though this is not the best time of year to complete this work, replacing the roof on the gym is absolutely critical. The roof is already well past it’s lifespan and without replacement a wet winter would most certainly result in significant water damage. We’re assured the work will be completed around Thanksgiving, as we’ve made it clear the tree lot must open on time!
Let us continue to offer our prayer intentions to Mary during the month of October. Mary Mother of God, pray for us!
In Christ,
Anna
PASTOR’S MESSAGE
Happy Feast Day!
Today is the feast of the Queen of the Most Holy Rosary – our patroness whom we ask to lead us closer to Christ. How will you celebrate today? Because it is important to celebrate! Thank you for the ways in which you make our community the blessing it is for so many. And thank you for the ways in which you instill in your children a love for our Blessed Mother in Heaven who watches over us from above. If you do not have the practice of praying the rosary together as a family, I can’t encourage you enough to do so. It might not be the most quiet or reflective or distraction free with younger children, but it will be pleasing to the Lord, and the children will learn and grow into the life of prayer as they take part and lead the family in the various prayers.
May our Lady, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, continue to bless us on our way to Heaven.
In Christ,
Fr. Matthew Oakland

Student Vaccination Information (6th-8th grade only)
On the recommendation of Public Health, and in order to support us in making decisions regarding programming, we are seeking information on the percentage of eligible students (12 and over) who are vaccinated. Individual student information will be kept confidential. The aggregate data will help us with programming decisions and mitigation efforts.
Please fill out the attached survey. If we do not receive a response from you, your child will be counted in the category of unvaccinated. Decisions around our programming and activities will be based on the percentages of vaccinated students. If you have any questions, please contact Kristin Bentler.

EVENTS & FUNDRAISING
DEVELOPMENT DIRECTIVES
Magazine Drive Ends October 12th @ 11:59pm
Congrats to the Townsend Family! They are the winners of 5 FREE DRESS PASSES for selling at least 5 subscriptions this last week.
The next incentive is for a $25 Menchies gift card. All families that sell 5 or more subscriptions between October 5 and October 12 @ 11:59PM will be entered to win. Plus all families that sell at least 2 subscriptions/donations between the above dates will receive 1 FREE DRESS PASS per K-8 HRS student.
Donations count toward sales too. $25 = 1 subscription.
SALES UPDATE
As of today, HRS we are over $110,000 sold!!! You are amazing, but don’t stop short of our $125,000 goal.
Check the Magazine Drive web site for instructions on how to sell and buy.
Cash Donations
Cash donations, in lieu of magazine orders, are welcome! $25.00 donation = 1 magazine order. 100% donations come back to HRS. Donate here, feel free to share with friend and family.
Participation
Our goal is 100% participation. Additional questions, contact Beth Martin or view the Magazine Drive web site.
Why participate:
1. The grade with the highest participation wins a special prize for their teachers.
2. The higher our overall participation in school fundraisers assists us when applying for grants. As you can imagine, grant money is extremely tight. If we can show high participation rates, then this shows granting organizations that we have exhausted our internal resources and are looking for external funders.
