Dear Holy Rosary Families,
Happy Halloween week!
With it being the last week in October, we have a lot happening around the building. I hope you will join us for the All Saints Day school Mass at 8:35 Friday- the 4th grade “Saints” will be in attendance!
We also have our fall Open House this Saturday for prospective families from 10-1. Thank you for spreading the word with your family and friends! I also hope to see you Saturday evening for the Italian dinner- a guaranteed good time with exceptional food. Thank you in advance to the Volpone family who is spearheading this event!
Don’t forget to set your clocks back this weekend, as daylight savings time will end. I’m looking forward to the short window when it’s not so dark in the mornings!
Hope to see you around this busy week.
Tonight is much more than just a time to dress up and collect candy. Tonight we celebrate the anticipation of tomorrow’s feast on this All Hallows Eve.
Tomorrow is All Saints Day, a day in which we celebrate all of those who are now victorious with Christ in Heaven. Like every Sunday of the year, it is also a Holy Day of Obligation – a special day for our family of faith, and so we gather all together in worship of our God. Masses tomorrow will be at 8:35AM with the school, or 7PM. Besides doing so on Friday, the 4th graders will also be joining us for the 10:30AM Mass on Sunday dressed up as their chosen saints. I would encourage you to share with your children the stories of some of the saints who inspire you, as we look to imitate their virtues and one day share in the glory of Heaven.
Saturday is All Souls Day, a day in which we pray for our loved ones who have died as we commend them to the love and mercy of God. Mass will be at 8:35AM. We also have our school Open House from 10-1, and the Italian Dinner after the Saturday evening 5PM Mass.
The next couple of days will be very full days here at Holy Rosary. But then, that is always true as we celebrate the goodness of our God to us – of what He gives us here below, and what awaits us in the fullness of His Kingdom.
- November 1st – All Saints Mass
- November 1st – Pizza Lunch
- November 2nd – Fall Open House
- November 2nd – Italian Dinner (following 5pm mass) (Double Volunteer Hours Available)

NOTES & REMINDERS
Perfect Uniform Tomorrow
Tomorrow is All Saints Day. Students need to be in perfect uniform as we celebrate with our 4th grade saints.
Pizza Lunch Friday
We continue our support of students in Uganda through our monthly One-On-One program, and as part of our Catholic identity and compassion for the world around us. Since September we have collected an average of about $240 a month. With over 400 students in our school, we are hoping that every student can bring in $1 for each collection so we can raise closer to the $400 a month needed. We hope you can think of creative ways to donate $1 — a bill, or four quarters, or even ten dimes — each month for the rest of the year.
If your child needs to have access to medication of any kind during the school day, please bring this signed form from their doctor. Students are not allowed to take any medication during school without the office having an official form. This includes epipens, inhalers, over the counter and allergy medications. Please contact the office with any questions.
Safety On Our Streets
Please help your children remember to use the crosswalks at all times. They should not be crossing the street anywhere but a crosswalk. Drop off and pick up are very chaotic. We ask that all adults demonstrate proper safety as an example to our students.

Seattle Dennis Uniform Location Closed
Dennis Uniforms is still selling uniforms online, but no longer has a physical store in Washington. Their closest store location to us is Portland, OR. We have been told that Seattle customers have a 15% discount off of prices at all times (not to be combined with other online offers) and free shipping to offset the lack of a physical store location in our area. https://www.dennisuniform.com
Candy Drive For Soldier’s Angels
Hello my name is Matthew Metcalf and I am from our 8th grade class here at Holy Rosary. I am putting together a Halloween Candy drive to benefit the Soldier’s Angels. This is a local non-profit that helps with aid comfort to the United State Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, their families and the growing veteran population.
Soldiers’ Angels sends comfort kits to troops overseas. Soldiers’ Angels is now donating candy over to the troops because they don’t get any candy for the Halloween season. This helps the soldiers overseas make them feel like home.
The goal of the candy drive is to have each student bring any Halloween Candy that they would like to donate. My goal for the school is to donate 50 pounds of candy. I will make a decorative box and put in the Main Office so kids can donate their candy. One pound of candy is approximately 20 pieces of candy depending on the size.
The candy drive will start November 1st and last through November 6th.

It’s yearbook order time! This year’s theme is Life In Color, and this year’s yearbook will surely brighten up your day, so order below! $25 for grades preschool through 7, and $30 for grade 8. Grade 8 includes student’s name stamped on the cover. Your FACTS account will be billed.
We are extremely proud of our yearbook program at Holy Rosary. It’s one of the few K-8 school yearbooks designed by eighth graders, who are skilled in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. Thank you for supporting our yearbook program. Order yours here.

Saint of the Week
Every week, we highlight a particular saint. This week, we remember St. Charles Borromeo. Charles (or Carlo, in Italian) came from a wealthy family, but he was frustrated by the corruption in Italy – especially the corruption in the Church. As Archbishop of Milan, he reformed his diocese and established some of the first seminaries. He also helped with reforms in Rome, especially in the papal conclave. He reminds us that, even when the powerful act unjustly, God strengthens us to stand for what is true, good, and right. His feast is November 4.
Holy Rosary Church welcomes children who are 7 years or older & TEENS and never been baptized along with their families, on a journey of preparation for initiation into the Catholic Church. If interested in RCIA and becoming Catholic, please contact Sr. Stella for an appointment: firstname.lastname@example.org or call at 206-937-1488 ext. 252.
