Family Communication 10/24/19

Dear Holy Rosary Families,

There’s a lot happening around the building right now- your kiddos are likely excited for Halloween and the school parties, we have our preschool trick-or-treat event scheduled, we will have a booth at the Junction Harvest Festival, and our Fall Open House  and the Italian dinner are just around the corner!

Remember, we are in our priority enrollment period for the 19-20 school year for new incoming students. If you have a NEW student you would like to join us for next year, now is the time to complete the enrollment application. Remember, all new kindergarteners (even if you are currently attending our preschool) must complete an admission application for kindergarten.  Please do so soon, as we will begin reviewing applications from the public soon and we absolutely want to make sure current school families and parishioners have first priority!

Have a wonderful rest of the week!

In Christ,

“I am the vine, you are the branches.”

Fruit trees don’t produce fruit for themselves – but to give others life, whether it be animals, including humans, or new trees.  As we remain connected to Christ, the vine, we are called to produce good fruit – not for ourselves, but for others.  We are called as members of the Body of Christ to give life!

Thank you for the many ways the sharing of your time and talents in our community does just that.  Sometimes it is the gift of unique talents and abilities.  Other times all that is required is a generous, willing spirit.  If you haven’t had an opportunity to fill our a parish commitment card yet for your pledge of your time and talents, you can do so online through the dedicated page on the parish website.   You can also find there the Guidebook of Apostolates and Ministries – a wonderful tool when looking for resources or opportunities to serve.

May God, through each of us, bear great fruit in the vineyard of the Lord.

In Christ,

Fr. Oakland

Saint of the Week

Every week, we highlight a particular saint. But this week, we’re celebrating All Saints’ Day on Friday, November 1! This is a Holy Day of Obligation because it’s important to celebrate all the members of our family in Christ, especially the ones who don’t have feast days of their own. All of us are called to live holy (saintly) lives, and we can start by learning about the wide variety of Saints, and the different ways they each pursued holiness. Then ask, how is Jesus asking me to love him and his people in my life today?

School Parents: Sing for Your Volunteer Hours!

Did you know that you can literally sing for your volunteer school hours? Participation in a parish adult choir for Sunday Mass is a qualified “non-fund-raising/general volunteer hours” actual thing! Not only that, it is fun and you can be with other singing, fun-loving adults—completely separate from your wonderful school kids. Imagine an evening away from the family on a Wednesday or Thursday—time just for you! You can have this much fun, and claim up to 25 valuable volunteer hours. Not only that, you can give your spiritual life a boost, as we not only sing together, but pray together and support each other in many ways. You can either sing every week, or arrange per your schedule to sing on a seasonal basis. And we do understand that conflicts arise one week to the next.Paul Dolejsi directs the music for Saturday 5pm and Sunday 10:30 Masses. Both of these groups are SATB choirs (you can sing melody—you don’t have to be a pro!), with piano and guitar accompaniment. We rehearse together for both Masses on Wednesday evenings from 7:15-8:45. You can choose which Mass (5pm/10:30) you would like to sing at each weekend.Mary Ann Lee directs the music for the Sunday 8:30 Mass. Their SATB choir sings from the loft and features organ and piano accompaniment. They rehearse on Thursday nights at 7:30pm, and are a very joyful and welcoming group! If interested in this sweet opportunity for volunteer hours, contact Paul at the parish office Tue-Wed-Thu, or drop by after Mass!
