Family Communication 10/14/21

PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Dear Holy Rosary Families,
I hope this message finds you well this week!
We’re busy on campus this week, with work on the roof beginning, mid-trimester assessments happening, and preparations for conferences underway.  You should find a short survey in this eFC seeking your input on the format of the conferences as we finalize our decisions.  Thank you for your input.
As we continue our work on the roof, we are looking to temporarily hire (3-4 weeks) an individual who has free days (likely 8 – 5) to help us monitor student traffic flow to and from the main building to the playground while the workers are working overhead.  This is not an urgent position, but would be very helpful once the contractors begin their work on the lower roof.  Our contractors are willing to furnish this person for us, but before giving them the go ahead we thought we’d check in our own community first.  You never know, someone in our community may be looking for temporary employment or may know of a friend or even a college aged student with some time on their hands.  If so, please reach out to me (ahorton@holyrosaryws.org)!  We’re also looking for parent volunteers to potentially assist in re-routing some traffic on a few days when we have to close the breezeway between the school and gym.  If you have a flexible schedule and might be willing to give a couple of hours during the day, please reach out to Kristin Bentler (kbentler@holyrosaryws.org).  Unfortunately I can’t tell you the exact days now, but know it will be in a few weeks.
As we continue through October, let us continue our efforts to draw ourselves closer to Mary.  Mary Mother of God, pray for us!
In Christ,
Anna

Update on Volunteer Hours

The School Commission, which oversees the volunteer hours program, decided at its last meeting to temporarily reduce the volunteer hour requirements for this year with the absence of Westfest and reduced opportunities.  We will also work to communicate remote volunteer opportunities as they come available via the eFC.  For this year only, the required hours will be 30, with no required split of fundraising or general hours.  Hours can still be submitted to the appropriate category, but we will not require you to complete 15 hours of each.
Volunteer hours completed last school year (up to 10 hours) can be submitted under the current school year for credit.  Login to your Volunteer Hours account, select August 1st and record your hours.  Multiple entries can be submitted for the last school year (2020/2021) under Aug. 1, 2021  Example: If you did 2 shifts at the Tree Lot, totaling 6 hours, you can select 12am-6am on Aug. 1, 2021, Fundraising Hours, Christmas Tree Lot.  Put in Notes: 2020/2021
There are many opportunities to volunteer still ahead of us and we’ll need everyone’s help!  Many shifts will be available at the tree lot, starting Thanksgiving week!  Keep an eye out in the eFC for additional information.
Questions can be submitted to office@holyrosaryws.org

Karla Lawson will let you know if your order is not ready. If you would like to place an order, An order form must be completed to pick up a sweatshirt.  The Main Office is open M-F from 9am-3pm.

Conferences Are Coming

Mark your calendars for conferences the Monday-Wednesday of Thanksgiving week.  During this week, families will have the opportunity to meet 1:1 with your child’s teacher.  More information on signing up for a time in early November.  As a reminder, students do not follow the regular school schedule this week and are only present for their conference (with the exception of kindergarten where students do not attend). In order to help us plan for conferences, we request that you complete this very quick survey.
