Holy Rosary’s 2015 Distinguished Alumni – David Redenbaugh

This Catholic Schools Week, we acknowledge our distinguished alumni, David Redenbaugh. David attended Holy Rosary School, K-8, and participated as an altar server from 4th grade on. While attending high school at Seattle Preparatory School, he stayed involved in altar serving and later became a Sacristan. One of David’s many accomplishments while at Seattle Prep was designing the cover for the school’s yearbook.

David attended the University of Notre Dame, graduating with a degree in computer engineering in 2006; he also received the Outstanding CPEG (Computer Engineering) Award as a senior.

David continues his involvement in Holy Rosary Parish through participation as a Sacristan and devoting his efforts to the revitalizing Holy Rosary’s Young Adult group. He is also involved with AMICI (The Fulcrum Foundation’s Young Professionals Organization) where he serves as Service Co-Chair for the 2014-2015 Amici Board. As part of the AMICI program, David is heavily involved in activities that provide hands-on support to several local Catholic schools.

Currently, David serves as an FLL mentor for the LEGO robotics program at Holy Rosary School.

Prayer Partners for those receiving Sacraments– Children’s Ministries:

When you think of the Sacrament of Baptism you think of the symbols of the Water, Candle/Light, White Garment, and Oil. When you think of the Sacrament of the 1st Communion you think of the Bread and Wine. One of the most frequently overlooked symbols of Sacraments of Initiation is the community. As a school community we support those who are receiving Sacraments through prayers.

We are inviting school families to become prayer partners for those receiving Sacraments this coming Easter Season.  After you are assigned the student/family that you will pray for, all that is required is to include an extra prayer for them either during personal prayer time or when you are quietly praying at Mass.  Before they receive their Sacraments they will get a little card saying who prayed for them!

In need of prayer partners are:

Students in the 2nd grade (and their families) who are preparing to receive their 1st Communion

4 Students preparing to receive the Sacraments of Baptism, 1st Communion, and Confirmation at the Easter Vigil: Lilly K (5th grade), Amelia P. (3rd grade ), Ruben S. (2nd grade), Harper Mae W.(2nd grade).

Please email me directly if your family are interested in becoming a prayer partner and if there is a specific family or student you would like to be a prayer partner for.

2015 is here and so is the debut of the Junior High Choir! Students in grades 6-7-8 will lead the music at the Saturday 5pm Mass on January 31st! We have many talented singers and percussionists, who will be joined by our adult band to lead us in joyful and celebratory song at the Saturday Vigil Mass. Students will sing together as a choir, and add solo’s and harmonies as able!

There are two rehearsal opportunities:

  • Wednesday evening, January 28 in CHURCH from 7:15-8:45
  • Saturday afternoon, January 31 in CHAPEL from 4:00-4:30, and CHURCH 4:30-4:50.

The JHC will sing about once a month at the Saturday 5pm mass, with a similar rehearsal schedule. Students may offer to sing or play an instrument (some competency expected—a great learning experience!). Music will be geared to emphasize the talents and abilities of those involved.

Parents can assist by:

  • RSVP your student’s participation (sing/play instrument) to: <>
  • Offer to assist in organizing activities (pizza, cookies, t-shirts, video), set-up, storage, etc.

Thanks for your support of the HR Junior High Choir!

Were you aware that a Catholic is fully initiated into the Church with the reception of all three sacraments of initiation: Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist. Catholics also believe that there is a grace that comes with being fully initiated. Why full initiation? So that we may be ready to do the work the Spirit is calling us to. If you are an adult who has not yet been confirmed, Holy Rosary is offering a series of sessions, beginning Wednesday evening, Feb. 11 from 7-8:30 in the Parish Center, to prepare you to receive this sacrament May 10th at the 10:30 am Mass. Please contact JoAnn Tobin at or 206-937-1488, Ext. 203 for more information or to register.
